The villa is close to the new town of Port de Pollenca (Puerto Pollensa) with its restaurants, shops, marina and sheltered beaches (only 10 minutes drive) away as are the picturesque coves of Cala San Vicente, where you can enjoy fabulous Spanish paella. The historic market town of Pollenca is only a 5 minute drive and the nearest supermarket only a couple of minutes by car. Tennis is available and there is also a good golf course close by.
Pollensa is an ideal location for bird watching especially during the migrating season as the area is in the migratory path.
Walking, cycling and riding are lovely early or late in the season when the weather is more temperate and the sailing is, of course, magnificent in the famous Badia de Pollenca (Pollensa Bay). The villa is also not far from Alcanada Golf Course (in Alcudia) which is one of the best courses on the island. Port de Pollenca also offers a great choice of water sports including sailing, scuba diving, water skiing and there are also boats for hire should you wish to explore the bay.
In Pollenca old town square you can find a good selection of restaurants and pavement cafes to relax in the shade.
During Spring the landscape changes dramatically, coming alive with an astonishing variety of wild flowers. Mallorca is also a famed destination for bird watching partly due to the fabulous marshes Albufera, probably the best wetlands site on any Mediterranean island. Black-winged Stilts, Kentish Plovers, Spoonbills and Flamingoes are just some of the species recorded here. During the migrating season, especially mid-April to Mid-May, the Pollensa area is particularly wonderful. If you go, don’t forget your binoculars!
The mountain ranges provide a magnificent backdrop for other outdoor pursuits such as walking, cycling, riding and golfing. For sailing enthusiasts May, June and September are especially enjoyable, when the famous Pollensa bay is less busy and the climate generally temperate.
